*This post was written on behalf of Massage Green Julington Creek location – I was given service in exchange for this HONEST review. All opinions are my own.*
What are y’all up to this week? I know my week is full of “to do’s”, errands and LOADS of work.
I’m definitely wishing that I could head back to Massage Green in the Julington Creek area of Jacksonville for another relaxing day!
Let’s be real – most of us don’t take time out of our busy lives to treat ourselves, and if we do it’s not very often. But self care is really such an important part of mental, physical and emotional health. Self care can be as simple as walking outside and breathing a few deep breaths of fresh air each morning, or it can be as involved as treating yourself to a wonderful and relaxing day of massages, facials and sauna time.
vibes
Massage Green was so calming and relaxing. As soon as you enter you’re greeted by friendly faces behind a beautiful stone counter. The sounds of zen music and water flowing, along with the smell of lavender, hints of vanilla and lemongrass instantly put me into “relaxation mode.”
Each room was just as soothing and serine as the reception and waiting areas, if not more so. My favorite was the couples suite, complete with waterfall wall and fireplace – talk about ROMANCE YALL!
services
Massage Green offers a plethora of services and wellness packages, all at affordable pricing. Their non contracted monthly wellness packages offer tons of options, location flexibility, exclusive members only discounts and specials as well as the ability to share services with up to 5 family members that you add to your plan. That way, everyone at home is happy and relaxed, not just you!
Massages at Massage Green: As for Massages (my personal FAVE spa service) Massage Green offers Deep Tissue and Swedish Massages at 60, 90 and 120 minute options. Any of these are also available for couples in that amazing couples sweet I mentioned earlier! To enhance your massage experience you can add a number of services onto your choice of massage, such as Aromatherapy, Hot Stones, Sugar Foot Scrubs and more. Massages are a great way to treat yourself AND take care of yourself all at once, with massage benefits ranging from reduction of stress, to increased circulation, pain relief and even the aid of muscle recovery. If you were only going to pick ONE single service I’d recommend a massage 10/10!
European Spa Facial: This one hour facial session includes a steam treatment, fruit enzymes for clearing out and protecting the skin. An exfoliation treatment and hydrating gel mask. As well as a wonderful face, neck, shoulder, arm and hand massage.
Infrared Sauna: Massage Green has a Solocarbon Full Spectrum Infrared Sauna. And infrared sauna is different from a traditional one because rather than using steam, infrared light is used and is experienced by your body as heat. With Detoxification, Anti-Aging, Weight Loss, Pain Relief, Cardio and Relaxation sauna sessions there is something for everyone! Infrared has no harmful UV rays and is so safe, it’s used to warm newborns in hospitals!
my experience
90 Minute Deep Tissue with Andrew: This was probably my most needed spa treatment. I carry all of my stress in my neck, chest and shoulders and was just at a point where I was needing a massage desperately. Andrew was my massage therapist and was so fully accommodating and informative! Not only did he do an amazing job focusing on my problem areas, but he explained what he was doing, why he was doing it AND gave me stretches and exercises to do at home to help prevent a recurrence of the same problems in the future. One of the things I’m constantly doing from stress is clenching my jaw, as soon as he went to massage my neck Andrew said “So do you clench or grind your teeth, because your neck is extremely tight.” He explained to me that because the muscles in my neck and chest are so tight (from years of constant clenching, along with years of hunching over to breastfeed) the muscles in my back are loose, stretched and weakened, thus contributing to my terrible posture as well as constant neck and pack pain. So thanks to Andrew I’m not on a mission to stretch out my neck and chest, strengthen my back and shoulders and to stop slouching! I love that not only did I receive an amazing massage, but also some great advice on how to fix a problem I’ve been living with for years!
European Facial with Caroline: Y’all. Caroline was THE SWEETEST! She started my facial by asking about my skin and it’s unique issues and makeup. For example, do I have sensitive skin? Allergies? Any skin conditions? Acne prone? As well as where my “trouble areas” were, what I wanted to achieve with my facial and if I had any other questions. She was thorough and complete while still being super friendly and personable – which I love! My facial started with a little steam to open the pores, some cleanser to get any dead skin, makeup and oils off of the surface, and then we moved onto the exfoliation and fruit enzymes. While each component of the facial sat and “did it’s thang” on my face my girl Caroline took the time to massage my neck, face, shoulders, arms and even hands, which was amazingly relaxing and indulgent.
Infrared Sauna: I’m not going to lie, I didn’t really know much about Infrared Saunas before I was approached by Massage Green. But they were more than informative and had no problems explaining everything about it to me! LED lights are used to emit infrared light which is registered by the body as heat (a typical sauna uses hit stones or steam) and by using certain levels of infrared, or a combination of them, to heat the body (not just the air around it) your detoxification is going to be seven times more effective than that of a traditional sauna. The thing though that I really loved about the Infrared Sauna was that I didn’t really have to do anything, I just selected what program I wanted out of the options they offered and just relaxed. Being able to bring my phone in (because there is NO STEAM!) was also a HUGE plus! You can take a look inside the sauna from my point of view on my Instagram Highlights in the one labeled “Massage Green.”
