We all know that the Holiday’s are “the most wonderful time of the year” but does anyone else feel like it’s also the most stressful time of the year? The busiest time of the year? The craziest time of the year? I know I do! But some things just aren’t worth our sanity, and I figured since I personally struggle staying grounded, calm and not insanely stressed during this time of the year, maybe some of ya’ll do too. And I wanted to share the three things I’ve been doing to help keep myself grounded, during this time of year, and ALL YEAR LONG.
The outfits in this post were gifted to me by Femme Luxe Finery – click here if you have questions & to read my disclaimer.
Take a LONG shower or bath – EVERY SINGLE DAY.
You may not have the time everyday for an hour long bubble bath with candles a face mask and wine, I get that, I don’t either, BUT just taking a few extra minutes in your shower each day can help mentally. Rather than getting in, quickly washing and getting out to move on to the next part of your busy day, just take a few minutes to stand in the water and let it hit your face, neck and back. While you do that, just take a few deep breaths, and concentrate on clearing your mind and focusing on the water hitting your skin. This may sound silly or like “that won’t do anything” but I promise a few minutes of just CLEARING your mind can be the mental break you need to kickstart your day, or help you sleep better at night, or if you’re a stay at home mom like me and shower randomly, get you through the rest of the day with a positive attitude. I also do this before going to big parties, work functions and family events, I find it just helps me get my attitude right and if I’m feeling badly before hand, it can help me get back into the right frame of mind. Bonus if you diffuse some Lavender oils in the bathroom while you shower!

Take the help / Ask for help!
I can NOT stress this one enough! If someone OFFERS to help you out with something, TAKE THE HELP! SAY YES! I am always declining other peoples help, but honestly, if people are offering, they mean it guys! Just letting someone take a few small things off your plate can really lighten your load and trust me, you don’t “NEED” to do it all anyway. And if no one offers, but you NEED the help, simply ASK. You’d be surprised, if you need help, and call up a friend or family member and ask them to do something they probably will.

Don’t over commit yourself, or hold yourself to an unrealistic standard.
Seriously. Don’t like your coworkers? Don’t go to the office party. You hate your Aunt or cousin? Don’t go to the family dinner. You don’t owe ANYONE your sanity or peace of mind, and simply saying “We won’t be attending this year, as we will be starting or own tradition.” It’s OK to buy premade snacks for the school party, it’s ok to order pizza to be delivered to the fancy Christmas party down the block instead of bringing a shmancy plate of dried fruit no one will eat, because trust me, the pizza will get eaten. Your kids teacher doesn’t need a handmade gift, a Starbucks gift card will do just fine. OH – and all of your presents don’t need to be wrapped like you paid someone to do it, all that wrapping papers just going to end up in the trash anyways. So toss that shit in some bags and ENJOY the rest of your day girl!
