Hey Y’all!
Today I want to share the new way my entire family is eating in order to feel our best, balance our hormones and maybe even lose those few extra pounds that have been hanging around since Christmas! Over the next month we will work our way through a new diet plan, called Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion
“Bestselling author, Joel Marion, is a fitness expert and nutritionist debunking the myths underlying traditional dieting and offers a simple, highly effective weight loss program.”
I’m not usually into diets, I know myself and they aren’t generally my “style” (mostly because I never stick to them for long) BUT I’ve been feeling so…. gross. Constant headaches, upset stomach most days of the week, bad skin, restless sleep, and irritability along with lacking focus. Feeling that way bothers me because I KNOW that I can fix all of these issues, I was just at a loss as to how (and really didn’t have much motivation) to actually start fixing all these problems plaguing me daily.
I’ve been complaining about these things to my family and we realized that we are ALL feeling “gross.” So I told my parents that I had just gotten offered the opportunity to read and review a diet book called “Always Eat After 7PM” – that the book is based on scientific evidence (not old wives tales), and is also health oriented rather than being solely weight loss based. Plus if we could all learn to prioritize healthy habits a bit more, I’d say that’s a win! After flipping through the book we are all willing to try a diet that is the opposite of the traditionally taught no carbs, early dinner, and never eat before bed rhetoric!
So, we decided to try it out – together!
reading the book
Fast forward to me eyebrows deep in Always Eat After 7PM – Joel, the author talks constantly about these hormones in our bodies, and how they control and effect not only our weight, but how we digest, and what our body does with the food we consume. AND that those hormones control tons of other things, like our quality of sleep, our skin and so on!
For example:
“Your body follows a circadian rhythm – an internal metabolic clock – in which hormone levels fluctuate throughout the day. Cortisol is one of these hormones… When your rhythm is disrupted, cortisol goes up in the evening and floods your system, making you anxious, unable to sleep and prone to gaining belly fat… ”
and also
“When the thyroid fails to secrete enough of the hormones that control metabolism, this can trigger symptoms like fatigue, depression, weight gain, thinning hair and dry skin.”
That got me thinking about how and what hormones control in our bodies. Could just eating differently help balance out these hormones and ease all of these ailments my parents and I are having?
our goals
Balance Hormones – Ease Skin Issues – Sleep Deeper – More Energy – Improve Focus – Lose Weight – Feel Healthier
