Well hey there Y’all!
If you’ve been following along here you know we (myself and my parents) have been giving the new book Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion a try! Want some details on how we are feeling after 3 weeks? I got you boo!
Incase you missed my other blog posts about my parent’s and I’s wellness journey using the Always Eat After 7PM plan you can find the “First Impressions” post HERE and the “Accelerating into the Plan” post HERE.
getting into the swing of things
Now on our third week, overall we both feel like things are going really well! I love that all of our meals are written out for us, this makes shopping and cooking so much easier, especially when I’m shopping and cooking for three adults! During the acceleration phase, we were still figuring out what kinds of foods to be eating, how much of what to be preparing and what kinds of foods to be consuming. The fact that it’s all just written out for us, beyond that first two weeks is so nice! And honestly takes a lot of the “work” out of meals, which is always helpful for a busy family like us!
One of our current favorite meals (that even the kids love) is the Cheesy Ground Beef Skillet! It’s super yummy, and makes for a great lunch the next day!
goals update
We are now into “The Main Phase” and here’s how our goals are stacking up!
So far my skin is clearing up wonderfully! Still some acne, but I’m already noticing less redness and irritated outbreaks. I’m also feeling WAY less bloated. I honestly don’t really get very hungry anymore, something we have ALL noticed! My parents and I did have a big wake up call when we had a cheat meal together, and ALL felt like crap the rest of the night – it was just real proof that if you put good in, you feel good, and when you eat badly, it may be contributing to the way you feel physically, even if you don’t realize it. Our current favorite recipe from Always Eat After 7 PM is the Cheesy Ground Beef Skillet – even the kids love it!
I’ve also noticed that while I’m actually sleeping less hours (not because of this diet, just more work and family commitments lately) I’m getting more restful sleep, and here’s why:
“A research paper published in Sports Medicine in 2014 showed that people who eat the majority of their carbs at dinner actually sleep better. Carb-induced, quality sleep decreases cortisol (a fat-storing hormone) and ramps up the production of your sleep hormones, serotonin and melatonin. Restorative sleep increases fat-burning hormones—the main one being growth hormone—overnight.”
