What’s up, Witches?
This is our LAST holiday at my parents house! (If you’re new here, yes, we live with my parents, it happens.) We are in the process of purchasing a home and it should be closed on and we should be moved in before Thanksgiving! I didn’t decorate for Halloween last year, with the exception of putting a few pumpkins out front, like two days before Halloween. So this year, to end things with a bang, I wanted to make sure to decorate for Halloween!
Today I’ve got a quick tutorial for y’all, complete with a free printable! This printable is pretty simple, and basic, that way you can customize it anyway you’d like! This year I kept it super simple, but I’m already thinking ahead to next year and I may add some spider webbing to the corners of the sign, but we will see. Sometimes simple is ok too! So let’s jump in!
‘sup, witches door sign
witches will need :
(optional) matching to theme color paint
spell 1…
Get your raw materials ready. I got my wood plank from Home Depot, and linked it HERE for you. But I also found some on Amazon – they are smaller, but would make for great indoor or wall signs! I suggest sanding your wood prior to painting it. (I didn’t do this because I *thought* my wood looked smooth enough, but I wish I would have taken a few minutes to sand it first!) Then paint your backdrop color, I used black spray paint that you can find HERE, or at pretty much any store that carries spray paint.
spell 2…
Print out your “sup witches” printable and do a rough draft of the spacing BEFORE you do the precision cutting of your letters. This way you know all the letters will fit how you want on your sign, but you won’t waste time cutting out the letters super nicely.
spell 3…
Once your letters are laid out and spaced out the way that you want you can do your precision cutting. Lay those out on your wood piece and trace them with a pencil.
spell 4…
Now paint the letters WHITE. This will ensure that if you choose to make your letters a color, the color shows up nice and bright. Then if you choose to do a color, paint the color over the white.
spell 5…
Add any finishing touches to your sign and then start decorating the rest of your front porch! Below you can find the links to everything I used in this post!
witchy, but make it casual
