It’s almost summer y’all!
I know the summer spirit gives new light to so many people! New things, trips, exploring, the sun and fun! But if you find yourself with a little extra time this summer, as many of us do, I have the perfect Summer Craft for you! And better yet, you just might have what you need for this one laying around the house!
DIY PAINTED JEANS
You’ll Need :
- Denim shorts, jeans, a skirt, overalls, anything really that you’d like to paint
- Acrylic Paint – we use this paint set!
- Paint brushes
Prep :
- Make sure your jeans are freshly washed and dry!
- Set out some old papers, a painting sheet or use an old table that you’re ok getting paint on (potentially)
Tips :
- Don’t load the paint on too thickly, especially if you’re using stretch denim because it can bleed through to the other side.
- You may need to do two coats as some denim “soaks” in the first layer of paint.
- If you’re using a light color on darker wash denim paint a layer of white first, then the color over!
Let’s get to it and Upcycle some Denim!
My daughter and I each painted a pair of our old jeans and were both inspired by the spring and summer blooms here in Hawaii! We decided on flowers and my daughter even did some vines and bees!
These were such a fun little project and honestly didn’t make much of a mess. Set up and clean up was very easy, and letting Harper have complete creative freedom was freeing for her! You should have seen how excited she was and her eyes were sparkling!
I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know in the comments if you did this Summer DIY Project!
