Hey Y’all!
The weather has MAJORLY cooled off, and I’m loving how I can style long and short, woven and knitted, and that I can wear heavier materials like corduroy, leather and felt without feeling too “heavy” or hot!
Today I wanted to show y’all how I styled a Mini Dress and a Mini Skater Skirt for Fall, complete with 70’s vibes! ✌?
Some of the items in this post were gifted to me by PinkBlush, this post also may contain affiliate links, as always photos and opinions are my own & honest!
Lately I’ve really been inspired by 70’s style vibes along with boho patterns with a bit of edge sprinkled around on top of everything for good measure. It’s refreshing and straight up fun to experiment with my own personal style. Especially since I really felt lost for quite a while after I had my children, just sorta purchasing whatever caught my eye, resulting in a less than cohesive closet, and a feeling of being lost ever single day when I went to get dressed.
As I fine tune my own personal style I’ve found that I have two distinct style moods:
1. I don’t feel like getting dressed today.
2. I’m totally excited to get dressed today!
And I’ve realized that REALLY loving everything in my closet makes number two possible more than not!
how to wear mini dresses and skirts this fall
the minidress
Try going for an overall style made from a heavier textile like corduroy or suede for the colder seasons. The overall style also allows for easy layering!
Go for something a little unexpected when you are choosing shoes, try OTK boots or some velvet booties!
Fall and Winter are all about the LAYERING right?! When you’re deciding on what to wear under your minidress PLEASE do not just default to a plain white or black shirt. Try a sweater, button up or a Striped Thermal like I picked here! It’s from PinkBlush and is one of my new favorite shirts and will 100% be on repeat all winter!
the miniskirt
I’ve had this button up mini for years! I stumbled over it at a thrift shop and snagged it for a few bucks! It was an awesome find for sure! I recommend trying a skater style skirt because then you can tuck in your top, or wear tights and not worry about lines and bunching like you would if you were wearing a body con style skirt.
I normally don’t think of accessories until after I have my entire outfit together but I picked up this blush pink felt hat a few weeks ago and immediately was like “I have to pair this hat with my floral mini!” So don’t be afraid to work an outfit around an accessory sometimes!
Try pairing your mini with a great pair of knee socks or full tights! It is a great way to add a little “sumsum” to your look, and a great way to cover up those legs if you are feeling a little uncomfortable in these mini styles! Pair your knee socks with a pair of booties, or tights with some great boots of any style! You can see above that I matched my blush hat with blush booties!
Don’t be afraid to WOW everyone by selecting a shirt that is a little outside of your comfort zone! This PinkBlush blouse that I selected is DREAMY and get’s “ohhh’s and ahhh’s” without fail whenever I wear it. I normally style it with something simple but I’ve been wanting to try it with this miniskirt since I got it and it totally worked! You can shop PinkBlush using the banner below! Don’t forget that they have an amazing selection of women’s and plus styles too, not just maternity!
Thank You So Much for Stopping By Today! Do you fancy yourself a MiniSkirt/Dress Kinda Gal?
