Oh. My. Goodness. Y’all! Can you believe that it’s almost time for the kids to go back to school?
How did this happen? Why do I feel completely unprepared and what the heck am I going to pack for lunches?!
My son is starting KINDERGARTEN this year and while I’d love to say I’m going to be the Pinterest mom who packs perfectly and gorgeously prepared lunches for my child each day… I’m just gonna be real with myself. It ain’t going to happen! I just don’t have that much time, not to mention my son is a super picky eater… There’s only so much you can do with such a limited range of foods to choose from. This is precisely why I’ll be packing Tyson® Fun Nuggets in my son’s lunches this year!
dino-licious
Thomas loves chicken nuggets and the quality of Tyson products along with the cute little Dino shapes really seem to be the game winner for him. My little paleontologist can’t get enough of these things! Aside from being shaped like Dinosaurs, Tyson Fun Nuggets are all natural and are made from minimally processed chicken. Tyson chicken is never raised with antibiotics, hormones or steroids and with 8 grams of whole grains as well as 10 grams of protein per serving, these little nuggets are perfect to pack for school and lunch table approved. Some great side items for lunches are fresh fruits and veggies, (I try to pack at least one of each) I also try to add things like dried fruit, yogurt or cheese and I of course always add in a little treat for dessert.
mom hacks for back to school meals
Shop at Walmart: it’s a one stop shop! You can get everything you need there, from Tyson Fun Nuggets to Hillshire Farm® Lunchmeats and even Jimmy Dean® Frozen Breakfasts. They’re all perfect for Back to School meal making!
Shopkick: Take advantage of the Shopkick offer where you can earn up to 400 kicks (100 per Tyson, Hillshire Farm®, State Fair® or Jimmy Dean® product) which can be redeemed for gift cards or even Fandango Movie tickets!
Keep it Simple! I always find with packed lunches the simpler the better. Trying to create fancy meals for the kids to take and eat at school somehow always turn out a flop, or messy. I like to include handheld foods that pack well, and still taste great after being in a lunch box for a few hours.
end of summer fun + movie tickets!
One thing I try to do with my kids is to connect with them based on their interests and there’s one thing my son is entirely fascinated with… SUPER HEROS! One show that he loves to watch about super hero kids is Teen Titans Go! When I found out there is a Teen Titans Go! movie coming out on July 27, I knew I wanted to take Thomas to see it! While waiting for the premiere date, we went on the Teen Titans Go! website and took quizzes to find out which Teen Titan character we were. Thomas is Beast Boy, Harper is Cyborg and I am Raven! Luckily, Thomas was pleased with his results. It’s so fun to see what characters the short quiz matches you and your kids with!
You can head over to my Instagram (HERE) to enter to win two movie tickets to see Teen Titans Go! To the Movies! All you have to do is post a picture of your OWN back to school meal using a Tyson, Jimmy Dean, State Fair, or Hillshire Farm product and use this hashtag: #dinonugshjs That’s it!
