Hey Yall!
If you follow me on Instagram you know that I went and got Permanent Freckles about two months ago. Well, after two months of saying I’d be blogging about it, here we FINALLY are! I blame Covid, distance learning and sheer exhaustion for the late posting, BUT better late than never right?
but why?
The VERY first question everyone asked me was “why.” I mean, naturally I guess, I’m sure people getting microbladed brows, and permanent eyeliner were also asked “why” before it became more mainstream. People apparently have VERY strong opinions about freckles, who woulda thought.
I have a two reasons why I got Permanent Freckles. One, I have very mild Rosacea, my cheeks are ALWAYS pink and blotchy. This is a major insecurity for me, and while I do things like use sunless tanner which helps to even out / cover up my uneven skin tone, it’s something I still notice daily and feel like I have to “fix.” The ONE time of year I love the way my facial skin looks is during the summer, when all my little freckles come out from hiding! So I figured I’d pop a few freckles on my face for keeps, and love my skin a little more all year long! My second reason, is simply, because I wanted them. (Which interestingly didn’t seem to be “enough” of a reason for some folks. Oh well!)
where do you get them done?
I actually found the artist who did my freckles via Instagram! I asked on IG Stories if anyone had previously gotten freckles and if so, who did them? Someone I went to high school with suggested Jodi, and after a deep dive into her Instagram account I knew she was the ONLY person I wanted to do my freckles!
how does it work?
This was probably the quickest, and easiest permanent “makeup” procedure EVERRRRRR! I came in, signed some papers, we found the perfect color for my freckles, numbed me up, and then Jodi worked her magic! It was quick, and pretty painless to be honest.
Color Matching: Jodi pulled out 4 or 5 different color pigments and we tested them to find the one that perfectly matched freckles I already have on my face.
Numbing: Numbing is optional, Jodi numbed the main part of my face that we would be adding the freckles to, but she did do a few freckles that were in other spots and we didn’t numb those. The numbing process was so easy, and I honestly could have just fallen asleep while waiting for the numbing creme to kick in! Below you can see Jodi applying the numbing creme. The freckles I got in areas that weren’t numbed hardly even hurt. For comparison I would say it hurt less than a kitten scratching you, it’s just a little poke and that’s it. Out of ten the pain level was only maybe a 2/10.
Mapping Out: Before Jodi permanently added on my freckles, she drew them on to map out exactly where each one would be. One by one the two of us decided which ones were perfectly places, and which ones weren’t. Once I was happy with the placement of all my soon to be freckles, Jodi was ready to permanently place them!
Finally Freckles! The process of Jodi placing the freckles was so quick! All she did was prick each freckle she had drawn on a few times with a needle and some ink, and that’s it!
after
My freckles took about two weeks to heal, and now that they are, I want more! After care was very easy and I had no issues at all! The only part that stinks is how dark your freckles are during the “heal and scab up” phase. People definitely gave me weird looks during that first week or so, but once they are 100% healed they look so good, and no one even questions if they are real or not! My redness went away in a matter of hours and there was zero pain post freckles!
