If you follow along on our adventures via Instagram you’ll already know that we spent this past weekend at the Wyndham Orlando Resort I-Drive! We had such a great time and we will absolutely be back to stay again soon! Today I wanted to share a deeper look into our trip!
the resort
Wyndham Orlando Resort on International Drive is a sprawling compound with over 600 rooms that sits on 22 acres of tropically landscaped property. We drove into Orlando from Jacksonville (which is in north Florida) and the resort was SO easy to get to! It was pretty much a straight shot south, and then right off of I-4 (which is the interstate that runs through Orlando.) This location right by I-4 and the Florida Turnpike made it SUPER easy for us to just hop on the interstate and get to all of our adventures! Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive is also only 12 miles from the airport – so if you’re flying in it’s also conveniently located for you too! Wyndham I-Drive is surrounded by shops, restaurants, coffee shops, as well as Icon Park, and everything is within walking distance, so you can play where you stay! We walked with the kids to get coffee, and dinner without a SINGLE “I’m tired” or “can you hold me” AND we also walked right over to Icon Park one day to grab lunch and ride the Wheel! The resort also offers complementary shuttle service to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Sea World.
the room
Wyndham offers 9 different room types, we opted for the family bunk room so that the kids had their own space. I think they felt a bit more at home because they have bunk beds at home too! All 613 rooms have pillow-top mattresses, refrigerators, massaging showers, 40 inch tv’s and are pet friendly!
the food, drinks & pool
We spent our entire first day at the Wyndham Orlando Resorts pool! What I thought would be a quick dip, some fancy cocktails and lunch turned into an ENTIRE 6 hours at the pool – but it was by far the kids favorite part of the hotel! They slept for 12 hours our first night at Wyndham and I’m telling you it was because of the fun they had at the pool all day! We ordered lunch from Gatorville Poolside Bar & Grill and our food was DELICIOUS! Harper got pizza, Thomas got chicken tenders and fries, and us adults got Beyond Burgers and homemade potato chips. The drinks were amazing, especially the Strawberry daiquiri’s – I probably should not even tell you how many of those things we ordered! Wyndham resort also offers in-room dining (they make a great snack board that we had) as well as a lobby bar, Barista coffee stand serving Starbucks coffee, and Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant.
covid precautions
Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive is dedicated to keeping it’s visitors, and employees safe and healthy, to do that they are implementing some new practices and policies like placing hand sanitizing stations at “high contact” areas like the lobby, restaurants, the pool, gym and more. All employees are also trained in the new COVID sanitation protocols and CDC guidelines. Communal spaces (like the lobby and meeting areas) will be cleaned multiple times per day. The pool seating was also redone to allow for proper social distancing of 6 feet between groups.
